A Peoria, Ill., company has paid $148,493 in back wages for unpaid overtime at 26 KFC
restaurants, including 17 in Iowa, the U.S. Labor Department said Thursday.
The federal investigation found that Weaver Enterprises Ltd. failed to pay nonexempt managers the required weekly salary of $455, and should have been paying them 11/2 times their regular rates of pay for hours worked exceeding 40 a week. The back wages were paid to 57 current and former workers in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.
