The new year has brought a flurry of fast-food restaurant closings to the Dayton area, and an industry observer said the closings may be part of a broader, seasonal trend.
A Kettering Burger King, Centerville Popeye’s Chicken and Dayton Dairy Queen are among the first casualties of 2010, although other locations of the same chains remain open and operating in the Miami Valley.
The closings include:
• The Burger King at 4125 Wilmington Pike — just south of the Meijer store in Kettering: A sign on the door directs customers to a nearby Burger King at 1431 E. Dorothy Lane. Burger King spokeswoman Denise Wilson confirmed the closing this afternoon, Jan. 7.Although she did not say how many employees were affected by the closing, Wilson said employees who wanted to be relocated were transferred to other Burger King restaurants in the area.
