A La Carte: Wabash Dairy Queen Opens Friday

The State Journal-Register:

Look for Springfield’s second DAIRY QUEEN to open Friday.

All that’s left to be done on the new building in the Chatham Square shopping center on Wabash Avenue is painting stripes in the parking lot, and that’s scheduled to be completed this coming week. Franchisee Mark Freetley said the inside of the building is finished and dozens of new hires are being trained.

The restaurant will carry out the company’s “Grill & Chill” concept, selling meals (salads, burgers, other sandwiches) and soft-serve treats (Blizzards, sundaes, cakes). Customers can dine in, carry out or use the drive-through lane. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

There are more than 5,900 DQs in the U.S., Canada and 20 other countries. Each store is independently owned and operated. Springfield’s other DQ, which has different owners, is at 1663 North Grand Ave. E.
