Tanning Salons To See 10% Tax Imposed

If you’re looking for that golden hue for your skin and plan on heading to the tanning salon to find it, you may soon be shelling out more money.

Tanning salons will soon see a 10 percent tax handed down by the federal government as part of the new health care law.

The tax will be imposed right in the middle of summer on July 1.

Ashleigh Kehrt said though her budget is already tight, tanning is a luxury she’s willing to pay for.

But for her, the thought of the tax is not what she wants to happen.

“Who likes to pay extra money for something? I like to tan, but if it’s going to cost me so much more on top of what I’m already paying then, I mean, I’m going to have to think about that,” Kehrt said. Read more.
