The inauguration of a bust of Cuban leader Fidel Castro on April 30 in downtown Caracas precede the withdrawal from the area of establishments in the fast-food multinational McDonald’s and Wendy’s.
“It is an ideological inconsistency have two businesses are identified by the US empire in the ‘historical revolution’ in the Bicentennial Boulevard (…); is not a xenophobia,” said Gerson Perez, leader of the Socialist Party USA de Venezuela (PSUV), headed by President Hugo Chavez.
Perez announced the placement of the bust and the request for mayor of Caracas that are removed from the area fast-food establishments, according to today plays the newspaper El Nacional. These initiatives “to give historical and political value to the presence of Cuban leader and other heroes who, in the future, will be placed there,” said the leader of the PSUV.
