After many years of helping operate the family dairy farm, Mary Busscher followed a longtime dream when the family got out of the business: She opened her own home-based decorating business, Decorating Den Interiors.

Decorating Den Interiors is a franchised operation, with hundreds of owners across the U.S. and Canada. Busscher decided to go with a franchise because of the advantages such an arrangement gives people, from assistance with marketing and getting suppliers to help with business issues.

“You’re not alone,” she said. “There’s a lot of franchising support.”

Busscher started her business late last year and said work is picking up for her now that springtime is here and people are starting to think about getting new looks for their homes. She offers a full range of design services at a variety of price points to suit just about any budget; for example, she can find new furnishings that are on the lower end of the price spectrum, or ones that are more expensive, depending on what the customer wants.
