Stratus Enables American Dream For Immigrant

Nebojsa “Shon” Vukomanovic didn’t just start on the ground floor when he launched his own business. He started out cleaning the floor.

As a franchise owner for Stratus Building Solutions of Overland, he still does floors sometimes. And he has plenty of company: He’s one of roughly 4,500 unit franchisees for Stratus, which gets mentioned regularly as one of the nation’s fastest-growing franchise companies.

That number is growing by about 100 a month, Stratus Chief Executive Dennis Jarrett says. The business is recession-resistant, he says, and may even benefit from building owners’ need to control costs. Outsourcing of janitorial and maintenance services has been on the rise for decades, and the recession has accelerated that trend.
