Mail Tribune:

Look for the local sandwich shop wars to heat up this winter.

Togo’s Sandwiches will open its fourth Oregon store at Blue Sky Plaza at the corner of East McAndrews Road and Biddle Road in December.

The Medford Togo’s will be the 244th for the San Jose, Calif.-based chain that began in 1971. It will be the first Togo’s between Corvallis and Redding, Calif.

“I grew up in San Jose, where Togo’s started,” franchise owner Will Brake said. “When I moved to Medford 1995, I was amazed there was no Togo’s here and knew someone needed to open one.”

The company has been in an expansion mode of late, so Brake fit right into the corporate plan. He began checking out the prospects at the beginning of the year and secured a franchise in April.
