Sunshine Coast Daily:

Kim Williams is a former SnapOn Tools franchisee who has been living on the Coast since 1990.

He has spent the past two years developing a 50cc (non-mobility) electric scooter, forming partnerships with a manufacturer in China to adhere to Australian design standards and having it tested with the relevant transport authorities.

Last Friday, he opened his Scooter World store, offering the E-Scoot, a $2599 (plus on-roads) scooter that costs 25 cents to charge, lasts 80km, takes up to eight hours to charge and can be charged 350 times.

“They’ll do everything a 50cc bike will do at a fraction of the cost and with no emissions,” he said.
