Some experienced restaurant owners are testing the strength of the economic recovery by opening more San Diego County locations.

There is cautious optimism among restaurateurs, fueled in part by crowds slowly drifting back to restaurants as job numbers gradually head up, though spending levels are far from what they were before the recession.

The improving climate was among factors that encouraged Randy Jones, a former San Diego Padres All-Star pitcher who has operated catering services and seasonal stadium eateries since the mid-1990s, to jump back into the year-round dining business for the first time in five years. More.
