Dollar General Has Plans For Another Store In Roanoke

Roanoke Times:

Dollar General wants to add another Roanoke Valley store to its wide footprint.

The discount retailer is making plans to construct a 9,100-square-foot store at 3318 Brandon Ave. in Roanoke, most recently the site of a Bruster’s Real Ice Cream shop.

The small walk-up Bruster’s shop closed in 2009, and the building was demolished.

A site plan filed with the city late last month reveals Dollar General’s plans to build a one-story store on the approximately 1-acre parcel of land.

It is unclear when construction would begin and when Dollar General would open for business. Tawn Earnest, a spokeswoman for Tennessee-based Dollar General, could not be reached to comment about the retailer’s plans.
