The Lower Southampton Sonic Drive-In on Bustleton Pike closed its doors Monday, July 25. According to a statement issued by Sonic, Sonic and the franchisee who owns and operates the drive-in have been evaluating this location.
“After careful consideration, the franchisee made the difficult decision to close the location…The decision to close a drive-in is never easy,” the company said in the statement.
The situation, according to the statement, “involves a contract between two parties that must be resolved before Sonic Corporation, as the franchisor, can step in to assist in facilitating the sale or closure of a location.”
According to a report by PhillyBurbs, the drive-in was closed due to the franchise owner not paying two month’s rent to the property owner, Mike Meister. Meister, along with Bucks County Sheriff’s officers and a locksmith company were at the Sonic Drive-In this morning to change the locks.
