Figaro Coffee Systems Inc. distanced itself from the controversy involving state-run casino operator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) and one of its franchisees.
In a statement, Figaro said its relationship with Promolabels Specialty Shop, which bagged the alleged irregular contract to put up coffee shops in Pagcor casinos from 2001 to 2009, “was purely that of franchisor-franchisee.”
“Figaro has nothing to do with whatever dealings or transactions that Promolabels may have had with Pagcor.”
“As franchisor, Figaro allowed Promolabels to use its trade name and put up and operate Figaro stores in locations chosen solely by Promolabels,” it added.
