NorthJersey.com:

Despite the struggling economy, or perhaps because of it, parents are still willing to spend money on private tutoring for their children.

That’s the view of Teaneck-based Kumon North America, the math and reading tutorial franchise, which on Wednesday outlined a push to boost its presence in five North Eastern states – Massachussetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania.

Kumon is looking to expand beyond the 1,400 centers currently in the U.S. The company added 120 franchises in 2010 and expects to add 150 this year and 200 in 2012.
