Concord Krispy Kreme Comeback?

San Jose Mercury News:

A doughnut dispensary along the high-profile Interstate 680 corridor, shuttered for more than four years, wants back in the glazed-snack game.

A Krispy Kreme franchisee has applied for a permit to reopen the nearly 4,000-square-foot drive-through bakery at the Willows Shopping Center.

“The facility will employ about 60 to 70 people and be open 24 hours, seven days a week — same as before,” wrote Jim Middleton, of Hot Glazed Enchantment, Inc., in a November letter to the city.

The Concord Planning Commission will vote on the permit application Wednesday at its 7 p.m. meeting in the City Council chamber at the Farrel A. Stewart Civic Center.

Krispy Kreme began peddling pastries at the site in 2002 during a large expansion for the publicly traded, North Carolina-based company.
