Utica Observer Dispatch:

The Friendly’s Ice Cream Shop restaurant on N. Genesee Street will close Sunday, Jan. 22, as its lease has been terminated by the property owner, a company spokesman said.

While all other Utica-area Friendly’s are owned by Rochester-based Kessler Family LLC, a franchisee, the North Utica restaurant was owned directly by the Friendly’s corporation, Kessler Director of Marketing Larry Ross said. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year.
